notes on films - not reviews for letterboxd, but the kind of writing in which my real personal experience can shine through. as well, details to help assist the actual review - so i dont get lost. Chungking Express (1994). Beautiful cinematography and incredibly creative style. One of the better romance films I've seen. The two stories could have benefited from more of a crossover. Feels disjointed as I didn't necessarily see many unifying elements. First story - nice but strange and confusing - hard to know what it is trying to say right until the end. Second story - great, could have made up the whole thing. More compelling probably. First story less relevant for me but the mistiming and inherent tragedy of the second speaks to me more than I suppose it should. To know love, yet to never quite reach it. Writing might have been held back by translation but some beautiful lines in second story (daydreaming, sleepwalking). Music choices, while technically good, proves to be ted...
